Add table64 extension(in Memory64 proposal) support in classic-interp
and AOT running modes, currently still use uint32 to represent table's
initial and maximum size to keep AOT ABI unchanged.
- Implement TINY / STANDARD frame modes - tiny mode is only able to keep track on the IP
and func idx, STANDARD mode provides more capabilities (parameters, stack pointer etc.).
- Implement FRAME_PER_FUNCTION / FRAME_PER_CALL modes - frame per function adds
code at the beginning and at the end of each function for allocating / deallocating stack frame,
whereas in per-call mode the frame is allocated before each call. The exception is call to
the imported function, where frame-per-function mode also allocates the stack before the
`call` instruction (as it can't instrument the imported function).
At the moment TINY + FRAME_PER_FUNCTION is automatically enabled in case GC and perf
profiling are disabled and `values` call stack feature is not requested. In all the other cases
STANDARD + FRAME_PER_CALL is used.
STANDARD + FRAME_PER_FUNCTION and TINY + FRAME_PER_CALL are currently not
implemented but possible, and might be enabled in the future.
ps. https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wasm-micro-runtime/issues/3758
aot_load_const_from_table() hides the const-ness of the
value and prevents optimizations like
https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wasm-micro-runtime/pull/3552.
This commit makes the aot compiler tracks the const-ness
of the value directly in the AOTValue and enables the above
mentioned optimization for XIP.
- Add declarations related to emitting AOT files into a separate header file
named `aot_emit_aot_file.h`
- Add API `aot_emit_aot_file_buf_ex` and refactor `aot_emit_aot_file_buf` to call it
- Expose some APIs in aot_export.h
Support to get `wasm_memory_type_t memory_type` from API
`wasm_runtime_get_import_type` and `wasm_runtime_get_export_type`,
and then get shared flag, initial page cout, maximum page count
from the memory_type:
```C
bool
wasm_memory_type_get_shared(const wasm_memory_type_t memory_type);
uint32_t
wasm_memory_type_get_init_page_count(const wasm_memory_type_t memory_type);
uint32_t
wasm_memory_type_get_max_page_count(const wasm_memory_type_t memory_type);
```
Implement the GC (Garbage Collection) feature for interpreter mode,
AOT mode and LLVM-JIT mode, and support most features of the latest
spec proposal, and also enable the stringref feature.
Use `cmake -DWAMR_BUILD_GC=1/0` to enable/disable the feature,
and `wamrc --enable-gc` to generate the AOT file with GC supported.
And update the AOT file version from 2 to 3 since there are many AOT
ABI breaks, including the changes of AOT file format, the changes of
AOT module/memory instance layouts, the AOT runtime APIs for the
AOT code to invoke and so on.
Only when the value kind is LLVMConstantIntValueKind and the value
is not undef and not poison can we extract the value of a constant int.
Fixes#2557 and #2559.
Segue is an optimization technology which uses x86 segment register to store
the WebAssembly linear memory base address, so as to remove most of the cost
of SFI (Software-based Fault Isolation) base addition and free up a general
purpose register, by this way it may:
- Improve the performance of JIT/AOT
- Reduce the footprint of JIT/AOT, the JIT/AOT code generated is smaller
- Reduce the compilation time of JIT/AOT
This PR uses the x86-64 GS segment register to apply the optimization, currently
it supports linux and linux-sgx platforms on x86-64 target. By default it is disabled,
developer can use the option below to enable it for wamrc and iwasm(with LLVM
JIT enabled):
```bash
wamrc --enable-segue=[<flags>] -o output_file wasm_file
iwasm --enable-segue=[<flags>] wasm_file [args...]
```
`flags` can be:
i32.load, i64.load, f32.load, f64.load, v128.load,
i32.store, i64.store, f32.store, f64.store, v128.store
Use comma to separate them, e.g. `--enable-segue=i32.load,i64.store`,
and `--enable-segue` means all flags are added.

Support integrating 3rd-party toolchain llc compiler or asm compiler
into wamrc by setting environment variable WAMRC_LLC_COMPILER
or WAMRC_ASM_COMPILER, wamrc will use these tools to generate
object file from LLVM IR firstly, and then refactor the object file into
aot file.
Automatically dump memory/performance profiling data in
wasm_application_execute_main and wasm_application_execute_func when
the related feature is enabled.
And remove unused aot_compile_wasm_file func declaration in aot_compiler.h.
Refactor LLVM Orc JIT to actually enable the lazy compilation and speedup
the launching process:
https://llvm.org/docs/ORCv2.html#laziness
Main modifications:
- Create LLVM module for each wasm function, wrap it with thread safe module
so that the modules can be compiled parallelly
- Lookup function from aot module instance's func_ptrs but not directly call the
function to decouple the module relationship
- Compile the function when it is first called and hasn't been compiled
- Create threads to pre-compile the WASM functions parallelly when loading
- Set Lazy JIT as default, update document and build/test scripts
Refine some codes in wasm loader
Add -Wshadow to gcc compile flags and fix some variable shadowed issues
Fix function parameter/return types not checked issue
Fix fast-interp loader reserve_block_ret() not handle V128 return type issue
Fix mini loader load_table_segment_section() failed issue
Add detailed comments for argc argument in wasm_runtime_call_wasm()
Fix fail to get builtin functions in indirect call (XIP) mode, e.g.
function aot_alloc_frame, aot_memory_init, aot_table_init and so on.
