Anders Bakken	e8c2952bf9	Fix arm64 issues on mac (#3688) ... Make wamrc normalize "arm64" to "aarch64v8". Previously the only way to make the "arm64" target was to not specify a target on 64 bit arm-based mac builds. Now arm64 and aarch64v8 are treated as the same. Make aot_loader accept "aarch64v8" on arm-based apple (as well as accepting legacy "arm64" based aot targets). This also removes __APPLE__ and __MACH__ from the block that defaults size_level to 1 since it doesn't seem to be supported for aarch64: `LLVM ERROR: Only small, tiny and large code models are allowed on AArch64`	2024-08-23 09:49:06 +08:00

For JIT, we naturally use mach-o on macOS, where the section name we currently use is not valid and ends up with the errors like: ``` LLVM ERROR: Global variable '__orc_lcl.aot_stack_sizes.0' has an invalid section specifier '.aot_stack_sizes': mach-o section specifier requires a segment and section separated by a comma. ``` Because the dedicated section is not necessary for JIT, this commit simply stops using it. Any use of a table index that isn't exactly a null byte (`0x00`) means that the module makes use of the reference types proposal. This is important to track because `aot_compiler.c` will blindly assume that all table indices are a single byte long otherwise. Wenyong Huang	da25906ed4	debug-interp: Only add lock when signal_flag is SIG_SINGSTEP (#3704) ... As reported in #3500, when debug interpreter is enabled, the classic interpreter performs a lock operation to read `exec_env->current_status->signal_flag` and do further handling before fetching next opcode, which makes the interpreter run slower. This PR atomic loads the `exec_env->current_status->signal_flag` without mutex lock when 32-bit atomic load is supported, and only adding lock for further handling when the signal_flag is WAMR_SIG_SINGSTEP, which improves the performance.	2024-08-14 09:03:01 +08:00

Add flag `LoadArgs.wasm_binary_freeable` to control whether the wasm/aot binary may be freed after instantiation for wamr API `wasm_runtime_load_ex`, if yes, then for some running modes, the wasm/aot module doesn't refer to the input binary again so developer can free it after instantiation to reduce the footprint. And add API `wasm_module_is_underlying_binary_freeable` and `wasm_runtime_is_underlying_binary_freeable` to check whether the input binary can be freed after instantiation for wasm-c-api and wamr api. dongsheng28849455	ba59e56e19	User defined memory allocator for different purposes (#3316) ... Some issues are related with memory fragmentation, which may cause the linear memory cannot be allocated. In WAMR, the memory managed by the system is often trivial, but linear memory usually directly allocates a large block and often remains unchanged for a long time. Their sensitivity and contribution to fragmentation are different, which is suitable for different allocation strategies. If we can control the linear memory's allocation, do not make it from system heap, the overhead of heap management might be avoided. Add `mem_alloc_usage_t usage` as the first argument for user defined malloc/realloc/free functions when `WAMR_BUILD_ALLOC_WITH_USAGE` cmake variable is set as 1, and make passing `Alloc_For_LinearMemory` to the argument when allocating the linear memory.	2024-04-18 19:40:57 +08:00

This PR adds a max_memory_pages parameter to module instantiation APIs, to allow overriding the max memory defined in the WASM module. Sticking to the max memory defined in the module is quite limiting when using shared memory in production. If targeted devices have different memory constraints, many wasm files have to be generated with different max memory values. And device constraints may not be known in advance. Re-allocation for growing memory can't be used as it might change the base address, therefore when OS_ENABLE_HW_BOUND_CHECK is enabled the memory is mmaped, and if the flag is disabled, the memory is allocated. No matter which thread crashes, the trap contains the stack frames of the main thread. Wenyong Huang	7c7684819d	Register quick call entries to speedup the aot/jit func call process (#2978) ... In some scenarios there may be lots of callings to AOT/JIT functions from the host embedder, which expects good performance for the calling process, while in the current implementation, runtime calls the wasm_runtime_invoke_native to prepare the array of registers and stacks for the invokeNative assemble code, and the latter then puts the elements in the array to physical registers and native stacks and calls the AOT/JIT function, there may be many data copying and handlings which impact the performance. This PR registers some quick AOT/JIT entries for some simple wasm signatures, and let runtime call the entry to directly invoke the AOT/JIT function instead of calling wasm_runtime_invoke_native, which speedups the calling process. We may extend the mechanism next to allow the developer to register his quick AOT/JIT entries to speedup the calling process of invoking the AOT/JIT functions for some specific signatures.	2024-01-10 16:44:09 +08:00
